I hope you all had a happy holiday and have an
awesome new year. I will be heading back
to CA this Wednesday. It is crazy how
quickly this year flew by. Last year at
this time I was getting ready to take the drive
across the country. Time to do it all
again, but this time I am flying, thank god!
Get ready for all the supercross photos you can
handle, with the usual helping FMX action.
Until then.

I thought I would drop in and let you all know I
am still alive and well. I have been back
home in New Jersey enjoying the off-season, So
lets see, what has been going on lately. Some of
you may have noticed the front and inside cover
of the new Nitro Circus video "Lock'N Load."
They were taken by yours truly. Mike Mason came
and spent a few days in Dirty Jersey after his
flight to somewhere over seas was canceled due
to bad weather. I did a shoot for the 2007
DVS FMX Team. Who is on it you ask? Well
you will just have to wait till January 1, 2007
to find out. I am heading back to the west
coast at the end of the month or after New
Years. I still haven't decided. One
of these days I will whip up a new batch of
fresh wallpapers for everyone. Until then.

I met up with Jeremy "Twitch" Stenberg this
morning at the Lake Elsinore MX track to snap
some photos of his first ride back on a big bike

Twitch looked at home on his YZ250 and sure
didn't look like it was his first time back on
the bike in six months. Click the image on

Last week Kicker put on their Big Air Bash at
the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas during the SEMA
car show. Fans and car enthusiasts filled
the parking lot of the Hard Rock to watch the
mini riders do loops in the ball of death, watch
the band play, get drunk off the free beer and
cocktails, and most of all, watch the FMX demo.
Jumping in the demo was Mike Mason, Dustin
Miller, Matt Buyten, Jake Windham, Tommy Clowers,
Jeff Tilton, Jeff Fehr, and Cody Elkins.

It's been awhile since I have done a video
update, so I figured I would give you all an
early Halloween treat. This video features

Sports Tour. In it you will see Nate,
Robbie Maddison, and Todd Potter doing a little
freestyle. Click the image on the right

I got back from Red Bull Ride to the Hills late
last night. It was unlike any contest I
had ever been to. There weren't rules and
restrictions like other mainstream contests.
The riders were free to do whatever they wanted
at the two riding locations, Ocotillo, CA and
Glamis, CA. The two locations really
tested everyone's riding abilities. Some
preferred the desert scene at Ocotillo, while
others felt at home in the sand at Glamis.
Riders were given 2 days at each location to
find a jump, or as they called it "ZONE," to be
scored on by their fellow riders. In Ocotillo,
Buyten and Mason found a crazy step up. If
you came up short, it was going to be a rough
tumble down the backside of the hill.
Renner stumbled across transfer double that was
extremely technical. After watching video
footage from the riding at Ocotillo, everyone
voted for the Rider of Ocotillo. That
honor went to Ronnie Renner.
At
Glamis, everyone seemed to struggle to find the
big crazy dune jumps from the Crusty video days.
After hours of searching, the guys came across a
downhill dune launch. There was a jump
following it, but not many chose to use it. Matt
Buyten and Ronnie Renner were able to take
advantage of the second dune hit and trick it.
Mike Mason also had incredible style out in the
dunes. His sand skills earned him Rider of
Glamis. After all the votes were tallied
from Ocotillo and Glamis, Ronnie Renner had the
most taking home first place over-all.
Matt Buyten finished second, followed by Nate
Adams. Click the image on the right to

It sure has been awhile since I last updated the
site. Shortly after my last update I went
back east for my birthday and to visit family
and friends. From there I went to the
Orlando Dew Tour and then straight to Pastrana's
house for a shoot. I didn't get home till
3:30am yesterday and now I am sick as a dog.
Next up for me is the Red Bull Ride to the Hills
contest. After that things finally die
down till supercross starts. During that
time I plan on spending some time back home in
NJ, but don't worry, I will get some behind the
scenes riding sessions for you all.
The
final round of the Dew Tour was an exciting one.
Nate Adams had the title locked up and planned
on going out with a win. The only problem for
Nate was that Mike Mason set the bar extremely
high in his first run scoring a 94.33, To
make matters worse, Mason pulled a new trick out
the bag for his second run, the Backflip
Superman, bettering his first run score with a
95.67!
Nate
knew what he had to do to win, pull off a
flawless run with perfectly executed tricks.
Nate pulled out all of his flip tricks for the
finals, such as the Backflip Lazy Boy, Backflip
Cordova, and Backflip Cancan One Hander. After
his run, Nate awaited anxiously for his score, a
92.67. This score was only good enough for
third place. Factory Freestyle rider
Jeremy Lusk finished second scoring a 93.00.
Mason's win moved him into second in the
over-all point standings. Last year he
finished third over-all and this year second.
Hopefully this pattern continues!
Congratulations to Nate Adams for winning the
2006 Dew Cup and to Mike Mason for his first Dew
Tour win! Click the image on

Right after I got done posting yesterday's
update, I got a call from Todd Potter to head
out to Fitzpatrick's house for a sunset session
with himself, Jimmy Fitzpatick, Ryan "Fluffer"
Hagy, Jeff "Ox" Kargola, Robbie Maddison, and
Destin Cantrell. Potter was throwing huge
Turn Down Whips off the super kicker. A
couple of time he was almost 180. The
lighting was perfect, making for some cool

After riding, I stopped by Jeremy "Twitch"
Stenberg's house to wish him a Happy Birthday
(Twitch turned 25 yesterday) and to check up on
his condition. The cast is off his left leg, but
he still has one on his right. The right cast
comes off next week He is able
to stand up and walk around now. If all
goes well, we might see Twitch back in action by
November. Keep your fingers crossed
everyone!

Earlier this morning I went to Lake Elsinore
Motocross Track with Motoworld Yamaha's newest
rider, Sean Hackley. Sean was getting
ready for his pro debut at the Rockstar US Open
in Las Vegas, October 13th and 14th. Sean
was looking really fast, jumping sections no one
else would. Also riding today was Factory
Connection rider Jake Weimer, and two of Yamaha
of Troy's newest riders, Ryan Morais and Jason
Lawrence. Today was Morais's first day
back on the bike, but went down in a rhythm
section. He walked away under his own
power, but his condition was unknown.
Lawrence looked good on his new Yamaha. It
will be good to see how he can do on quality
equipment. He wasn't pushing it hard
today, but looked at home on the new Yamaha.
Weimer put in a bunch of laps and was throwing
huge whips all day. Click the image on the

Yesterday
was my first day back in
So Cal and I headed straight to Nate Adams'
house for a practice session with Nate, Todd
Potter, Robbie Maddison, and Jimmy McGuire.
It has been awhile since I have watched these
guys ride and they were going off. Nate
and Maddo have been working hard on his flip
tricks since I last saw them. Potter is just
about ready to put the flip to dirt (about damn
time!). I filmed some footage from the session,
but I forgot my charger at Mason's house and my
battery is dead, DOH! So for now, you will
all just have to deal with good old still

Mike Mason, Derek Burlew, Matt Buyten, Myles

easily, he is the guy toying with everyone!

Mason, McNeil, Lusk, Adoptante, and others.

The fourth round of the Dew Action Sports Tour
took place this past weekend in San Jose, CA.
With absence of Travis Pastrana due to a rally
car race, this left the door wide open for Nate
Adams to regain the series points lead.
Heavy winds Friday caused the prelims to be
canceled. All 15 riders automatically made
it into the final, making the competition
stacked. Mike Mason put in an impressive
first run posting the only score in the 90's.
Mason would hold the lead until the last rider,
Nate Adams. Nate was able to top Mason's
score taking the lead and the win. Mason
was able to move up into third place in the
series point standings with one round left.
Jeremy Lusk took home his second podium finish
of the Dew Tour finishing third behind Mason.
Burlew was out there sporting his new gear
sponsor, Dickies shorts and a NV/HC! t-shirt.
Come on people, someone step up and sponsor him.
You
may wonder why the scores were so low at this
event. The lack of time on the course
effected everyone. The guys were also
complaining about the over all layout of the
course. Changes had to be made to improve
it, but It still didn't flow very well
making it hard to link together a smooth run. Click the image on the right to view the photos.

After a long rough weekend
in Las Vegas I headed up to Carson City to hang
out with the NV/HC crew. Today Mason,
Buyten, Jones, and McElroy put in a little
morning session out at Dustin Miller's House.
Miller still isn't able to ride, but his elbow
is healing up nicely and is getting his range of
motion back. I wish I could have got more
photos, but Mason, Jones, and Miller liked
shooting photos more then riding. I want
to post them up but I am afraid I will lose my
job. As Jones put it, "I have two advantages
over you, I take better photos and I am cooler."

The third round of the Dew Action Sports Tour
took place this past weekend in Portland,
Oregon. This round was different then the
previous two rounds. The FMX was held
indoors and would feature only three ramp jumps
and a superkicker. This evened out the
playing field. You could no longer rely on
creative lines to earn you extra point.
Your tricks had to do all the talking.
Nate
Adams topped Travis Pastrana in the prelims
qualifying first. Travis doesn't like finishing
second in anything so he came out swinging in
the final posting an extremely high score of a
97.50. Mike Mason put in a great first run
and should have finished higher. Adam
Jones put in a solid run finishing third behind
Nate and Travis. Hometown boy Beau Bamburg
had the crowd on their feet through out his run
but was only able to finish fifth, another
questionable score. You couldn't have paid
me enough to be a judge a that contest. It
sure was one hell of a rough job.

It was been one heck of a week at Summer X.
I can't believe everything that went down.
The double backflip was insane and won't be
topped anytime soon (see the 2 sequences I
captured in the big air gallery). I am
very proud of my buddies up north in the NV/HC
for taking home every color medal that X Games
had to offer, Mason FMX Bronze, Jones FMX
Silver, and Buyten with his second Gold in Step
Up. Way to go guys!
There was way too much crashing this year.
The tricks have evolved so much from last year
that everyone is really putting it on the line
every time they take off the ramp. While the
course was rather easy compared ones in the
past, it
claimed Mat Rebeaud, Nate Adams, Ronnie Faisst,
Ailo Gaup, and Kenny Bartram. I guess that is
what it take to elevate the sport to the next
level. With all the being said, it is time for
what you have all been waiting for, PHOTOS!

Today was another amazing day at X. To start the
day off, Travis Pastrana upset WRC legend Colin
McCrae after he rolled his Subaru right before
the finish line. Unbelievably the car
landed on 4 wheels and he was able to take off
and finish. His time was a mere .52
seconds slower then Pastrana, giving Pastrana
his second gold medal this year.
The
Pastrana and Adams rivalry ended quickly today
when Nate went for what looked to be a No Handed
Flip to No Handed Lander, but he changed his
mind before landing, missing the bars and going
down hard. This knocked Nate out of the
competition. Ronnie Faisst went down hard
on his first 360 to dirt. Wait till you
see the sequence! Ailo Gaup went down as well on
a No Handed Flip. Three big names didn't
even make it out of the first round.
Mike
Mason put in an amazing run earning the only
score in the 90's besides Pastrana. He
qualified second in his first Summer X Games
behind Pastrana. Way to go Mason!
Adam Jones faultered in his first run but was
able to put it together in his second run to
qualify third. Jim McNeil and Mat Rebeaud
also put in solid runs to make it into the
finals.
1. Travis Pastrana 92.20
2. Mike Mason 90.20
3. Adam Jones 89.40
4. Jim McNeil 86.60
5. Mat Rebeaud 87.40

In
Step Up Matt Buyten recalimed gold for the
second time defeating Jeremy McGrath, Brian
Deegan, Tommy Clowers, and Myles Richmond.
A big YEEEEEW to you Buyten!

This year's FMX Best Trick was like watching
someone play a video games. Pastrana did
the unthinkable tonight in FMX Big Air, the
elusive double backflip! It brought back
memories of Gravity Games 2000 when Carey Hart
did the first backflip. It was by far the
most amazing and scariest thing I have ever
seen. Mat Rebeaud finished second with a
Underflip Nacnac One Hander. I am proud to
say my housemate Blake "Bilko" Williams finished
third with his super extended Backflip
Cliffhanger. It was straighter then most
people's normal Cliffhangers. He got the bronze
over Nate Adams because his combined run scores
were higher.
1. Travis Pastrana 98.60
2. Mat Rebeaud 93.80
3. Blake Williams 91.80
4. Nate Adams 91.80
5. Jim McNeil 89.60

Well it's that time of year again, Summer X
Games. The event we have been waiting all year for to
see who will do the next crazy trick to elevate FMX
even further. Will we see the double flip or maybe some new 360 variations?
We will just have to wait and see.
The course is rather easy this year compared to
past years. It consisted of 2 dirt hits and 7
ramp jumps going back and forth. You might
wonder why X Games doesn't have the sickest
course ever, but the course designers had to fit
in a supermoto course and a rally car course.
Don't worry, the boys will be going off as
usual. There is even a 115 foot ramp jump,
the same ramp Metzger used to flip the fountains
in Vegas. Practice for FMX kicked off yesterday.
No one really pulled out the big tricks since it
was only the first day. Practice starts today at
4. Click the image on the right to view photos
from the first day of practice. I will try
to update as much as I can during the event.

This past weekend Huntington Beach hosted the
2006 Beach Games
. With all the major
contests going on this summer it was nice to
take a break from the contest scene and hang out
on the beach for a demo. Mike Mason, Myles
Richmond, Cam Sinclair, Gram Gustin, Jeff
Tilton, Ryan "Fluffer" Hagy, and Jeff "Ox"
Kargola all rode in the FOX sponsored demo.
The boys were going off out on the beach,
drawing bigger crowds then the US Open of
Surfing, which was the main feature of the Beach
Games. The beach set ramp made for some
awesome backgrounds for photos. Have a look for
yourself by clicking the image on the right.
Time for me to go get ready for X Games.

There is nothing like an air conditioned arena
to host the Dew Tour during the 110+ degree
temperatures in Denver. Too bad FMX was
out in the parking lot! Travis Pastrana was not happy
about his loss to Nate Adams in the first round
and came out swinging. He revealed his new
tricks the Backflip Superman and Backflip
Superman Indian Air. Nate was ready for
the challenge and pulled out the Backflip Lazy
Boy. With the focus on these two riders,
no one expected Kenny Bartram to be in the mix.
Last year's Dew Cup winner laid down a 95.67 in
his first run. He also introduced a new
trick, a one handed take off flip. With such a
high first run score, it was going to be quite a
challenge for Nate and Travis to beat it.
You can never count out Pastrana though.
He pulled out all the stops and put together an
amazing run scoring a 96.83. After the
first set of runs, Nate Adams found himself in
third place. In his second run, he came up
just short of Travis, scoring a 96.17.
Since Travis was the last rider to go and had
already won the event, he invited Bartram out
for his final run. Travis and Kenny put on
a show for the fans hitting the ramps together. Travis and Nate are now tied for the Dew Cup
Championship.
Congratulations to Dustin Miller for pulling off
his first flip in a contest. Just wait
till he learns flip tricks! Jim McNeil
also put in two great runs to finish fourth.

I can't believe it has been an entire year since
the first Dew Tour. It was great to be
back at the tour. If you can make it out
to one, I strongly suggest you do! It was crazy
to see how many more flip tricks there are now.
It is really getting out of hand. Adam and
Nate's flip cordovas are insane. You need
to see it in person to believe it. The
course this year took out a lot of people.
Just to name a few, Windham, Buyten, Villa,
Rebeaud, Twitch, Fehr, and Lusk. It was
one of the scariest things I have ever seen when
Twitch went down. Thank God he will be ok
fairly soon. These guys are really pushing
it to stay on top of the sport and it is taking
its toll on everyone. The course featured
a step down just that launch the guys upwards of
50 feet in the air. Tricks off this jump
were incredible to watch. They were in the
air for almost 5 seconds!
As usual there were some major conflicts with
the judging. The scoring was extremely
difficult because the addition of the 1/4 pipe
and wall ride. Some top riders felt they weren't
scored fairly because of this. I must say
I am on their side. While I do agree with the
top 3, the scoring of the rest of the field left
something to be desired. It is cool to see that
the course designers are trying to evolve the
sport, but it doesn't belong in a regular FMX
competition. The whole point is going big off
gnarly jumps. If rider spends a 1/3 of his
run in the 1/4 pipe, should they be scored
higher then the rider who instead chose to pull
huge extended technical tricks during that time?
BMX has DIRT and PARK. Why not do the same
for FMX if the new trend is going to be 1/4
pipes and wall rides? Heck, you can even throw
in some rails and slap pegs on a 250.
As for the photos, I have
a big work load that needs to be finished before
I can get cracking on the 2,000+ photos that I
took during the event. I hope to have them
done by tomorrow, but you never know, they might
be up later tonight so check back.

The Southwick National was
jammed packed with great racing action. In the
Motocross Class James Stewart led Ricky
Carmichael in the beginning of both motos.
It was hard to tell that Stewart was still
feeling the effects of his Mt. Morris crash with
the way he was riding. Carmichael and
Stewart battled early, but Carmichael was able
to make the pass and pull away. It seemed
like RC had the first moto win in the bag, but a
crash late in the moto handed the lead and
victory to Stewart. The second moto
started the same as the first, but this time,
Stewart's bike had a mechanical failure on the
last lap, throwing him over the handle bars.
Carmichael kept it on two wheels and cruised to
victory. Even though he DNF'd, he still
finished 11th due to the amount of riders he
lapped. Reed finished second over-all and
Millsaps earned his second podium appearance in
three races.
In the Lites Class Mike
Alessi led half of the first moto until Andrew
Short tracked him down and passed him. Short
pulled away and took the first moto win.
Alessi was second with Bret Metcalf and Sean
Collier right on his tail. In the second
moto Metcalf led the majority of the race, but
Grant Langston, who suffered a mechanical
failure in the first moto, reeled him in and
took the lead. Metcalf had to settle for
second. Alessi finished third and Short
was fourth. Metcalf, Alessi, and Short all
had tying results, but since Short won the first
moto he took his first over-all win of the year,
followed by Metcalf and Alessi. Click the

Today Fitzpatrick's house
hosted a Doug Parson's created freeride contest.
Unlike today's conventional competitions, this
contest was dirt hits only. To make things
even more interesting, the course featured a few
100+ foot jumps, and an up hill rhythm section.
The course separated the men from the boys.
The event featured Twitch, Faisst, Potter,
Miller, Buyten, McElroy, Kinnaird, Fitzpatrick,
Dusseau, Richmond, and Renner, all very talented
natural terrain riders. It was tough
deciding who would take the win until Twitch
threw down a record breaking backflip, 155 feet
to be exact. That's 30 feet longer then
the record set by Mike Metzger less then a month
ago! Twitch finished first, Miller second,
and Potter was third. Click the image on the right to view

I spend my Memorial Day at Jimmy Fitzpatrick's
house. Jimmy and crew were working on
getting his course ready for a Doug Parsons run
contest. Potter, Jimmy, Kinnaird, and
others were on hand to help test out some new
jumps and rebuilt lips. After that I met
up with Twitch to get some shots on his new
trick, although Faisst is also claiming it, a
One Handed Nacnac Backflip. It is pretty
sick. He is also working on Cliffhanger
Backflips. Look out Bilko! To see

It's been awhile since I have shot any
freeriding so the other day I headed out to
Fitzpatrick's moto playground to snap some
photos of Todd Potter, racer Daniel Sani, Dayne
Kinnaird, and Fitzpatrick himself. Potter
and Sani put on a nice show by hitting the two
ramps side by side. It made for some cool
shots. Take a look by clicking the image

The Motocross Nationals
kicked off this past weekend in Sacramento, CA.
Unfortunately there was no hot sunny California
weather, rather rain filled skies and mid 60's
temperatures. The track was extremely
slick and rough separating the men from the
boys.
Carmichael grabbed the
first moto hole shot, but then lost the front
end going down. He remounted in a very
distant 40th position. Robbie Reynard led
early, but was quickly passed by Chad Reed.
Stewart stalled the bike allowing Carmichael to
close in on him. The two battled
profusely, with Carmichael making the pass on
Stewart. That didn't last long, as Stewart
struck back and pulled away from Carmichael.
Reed looked like he had it in the bag until
Stewart put in an amazing charge and closed in
on his rear fender with in the final 2 laps.
Stewart made the pass and took his first
Motocross moto victory. Reed finished
second, followed by Carmichael in third.
Carmichael in third, when was the last time he
finished third?
The second moto started
off the same way as the first, but this time,
Carmichael kept it on two wheels and never
looked back. Stewart quickly moved into
second, but couldn't close the gap on RC.
Carmichael finished nearly 45 seconds ahead of
Stewart. Reed was able to work his way
into third. Stewart's second place finish
in the second moto secured the over-all victory,
ending Carmichael's 27 consecutive win streak.
David Vuillemin put in a great ride this weekend
to finish fourth over-all. Brian Deegan's return
to racing didn't last long. On the first lap of practice Brian
crossed rutted going off a jump
and was thrown off the bike upon landing. He twisted
his knee in the process, causing him to pull out from
racing.
In the Lites Class Mike
Alessi swept both motos. Ryan Villopoto
was right on his tail in the first moto, but
lost the front end towards the end of the moto,
handing the win to Alessi. In the second
moto Josh Grant grabbed the hole shot, but went
down. Mike Alessi rode by and checked out
for his second moto win. Ryan Villopoto
started 40th due to a crash two turns after the
start. Yamaha of Troy riders Bret Metcalfe
and Andrew McFarlane looked very fast finishing
second and third over-all. Click the image on the right to

So what do you do in
Temecula when it is to dark to ride and no where
to go? You have a mock photo shoot in the front
yard with house crasher Sean Hackley. For
those of you who don't know who Sean is, he is
an up and coming shredder from Texas who is
taking on the amateur scene by storm. He
has been staying at the house along with Tarah
Gieger getting ready for the Glen Helen Prequel.
If you boys are lucky, maybe there will be a
Gieger photo shoot update. Click the image on

this weekend after the prequel.

Today I interrupted Jeremy "Twitch" Stenberg
from moving into his new house to snap a few
life style photos of him for one of his sponsors. The sun was a
bitch and made lighting pretty difficult.
We didn't have much time to get it done since he
had to leave quickly for another shoot. Twitch
is one busy guy lately! Click the image on the

5/8/06-
Well after a full day of recovering from
Saturday night I finally managed to get photos
done today in record setting time. I didn't get
any practice and life style stuff because I was
busy doing a shoot for Ogio's 2007 product line.
Let me say, their new stuff is awesome.
The race turned out just how I thought it would.
Stewart once again took the win, but this time
Carmichael wasn't that far behind. RC
played it smart and didn't push to catch Stewart
since all he had to do was finish in second to
win the championship. Reed put in a great
ride but his start held him back from catching
RC and Stewart. It was a bitter sweet day
for RC, winning yet another championship, but
saying goodbye to Supercross. He will be
missed. Congratulations to Carmichael for
winning the Amp'd Mobile/AMA Supercross Series
and to James Stewart for winning the Amp'd
Mobile World Supercross Series.
Andrew Short put in a great ride in the Lites
class. Millsaps was close to passing him
but a crash in the whoops ruined his chances of
winning the shoot out for the second year in a
row. Josh Grant and Mike Alessi had an
great battle. Alessi put a cheap pass on
Grant almost knocking him off the track.
Two turns later Grant tried the same move on
Alessi, but he saw it coming and hit the brakes.
Grant went right off the track. Villopoto
looked very fast but just like Millsaps', a
crash ruined his chances of taking the win.

Mike Metzger set a new Guinness World Record
back flip distance record last night live on
ESPN by back flipping the Caesar's Palace
fountains. The official distance of the jump was
125'. The place was packed.
Thousands of people lined the streets
surrounding the event to witness Metzger's jump.
Who would have ever thought the jump that nearly
killed Evil Knievel would be back flipped with
ease? I bet Mike was glad he had 12 inches
of suspension travel instead of 2!
Sadly I have no shots of the jump. My angle
didn't seem to work out too well. Hopefully I
can redeem myself today at the Road2Recovery
charity golf tournament and the MiniMotoSX.

So you may have been wondering where I've been.
After XFighters I went with Dustin Nowak, Dustin
Miller, Drake McElroy, Matt Buyten, and others
to Carterpalooza. It was a weekend long moto
free for all, which turned into more partying
the riding! After that, just like the supercross
series, I took a much needed break and went back
home to NJ. I still am in NJ and
won't be back in action till May 4th when Mike
Metzger back flips the Fountains in Las Vegas.
I will also be shooting the MiniMoto SX and the
final round of the Supercross series that
weekend.

4/2/06-
There isn't much more you
can say about Redbull XFighters then absolutely
amazing. The Mexico City locals sold out the
42,000 seat capacity "Plaza de Mexico" is a
record setting time. Those who couldn't
make it into the event lined the streets hours
prior and after the event. It was so crazy
we had to be escorted into and out of the arena.
The crowd never once stopped screaming for 10 of
the world's best freestyle motocross riders.
Not a single person left the contest early.
The event offered 2 rounds
of qualifying to help decide the top 3 riders.
Five riders were chosen out of the first round.
Then those five were narrowed down to 3 riders
to compete in the final round. Travis
Pastrana, Matt Rebeaud, Ronnie Renner, Danni
Torres, and Andre Villa. Making it into
the final round would be Pastrana, Renner, and
Rebeaud. VIlla had an awesome run going
until he came up short on his 360/Barrel Roll
and went down. Pastrana looked like he would win
another XFighters after posting the highest
scores in the first 2 rounds of qualifying.
Midway through his final run Travis attempted to
jump up onto a platform from a small dirt mount.
He was able to do it in practice but was not so
lucky in his final run. He missed the
platform and hit the edge throwing him over the
handle bars and onto his head. He was able
to walk away with some help. He suffered no
serious injuries.
This left the door wide open for Renner and
Rebeaud. To help build the suspense the
final run scores kept secret till the trophy
presentation, Who The two both had amazing runs,
but the
crowd seemed to be on the side of Renner for the
win. Mexico loves Renner. He could
run for El Presidente and probably win!
Unfortunately, Renner was not able to defend his
XFighters Mexico City title finishing second to
Matt Rebeaud. Rebeaud was in such
disbelief that he won. Needless to say he
was very excited and happy. Click the

You are in luck. I finally
remembered how to shoot photos and update the
site. Sorry for the lack of productivity
here. Things have been hectic for me lately.
Yesterday I went out to Ronnie Faisst's newly
redone backyard for a little session with him,
Buyten, Urek, Fluffer, and Garland. Potter was
on hand for comic relief since he was a little
tired from all the riding he has been doing
lately. Check out the gallery from
yesterday by clicking the image on the right.
Tomorrow I will be heading out to Mike Metzger's
contest in Lake Elsinore at Diamond Stadium.
It should be good.

So you may be wondering where the heck I have
been lately. Since I got back from Lake
Whitney I really haven't had a moment to stop
and think. I was swamped with sending out
photos from Whitney, which will be posted at
some point once DirtRider/MiniRider picks out
the shots they will be using in their feature
article. Then I ended up catch a pretty
bad case of poison ivy while I was out in
Whitney, which still doesn't want to go away. I
also had a bunch of scheduled shoots that I had
to do last week and yesterday. That pretty
much sums up why I haven't been able to post
anything. I have a couple things in the
works for this week, and next week I will be
heading to Mexico City for Redbull XFighters.
Ok, time to go get My Chemical Romance's new
DVD. Later

Well I am sitting here in the Dallas Ft. Worth
Airport waiting to head back to Murrieta.
Lake Whitney was stacked with some scary fast
amateurs. It was a good shoot, but difficult at
times due to the stupid clouds who loved to
cover the sun every 5 minutes. All in all
it was a good shoot for Mini Rider.
Stroupe, Bowers, and Hackney were flying all
week. It will be interesting to see how
they do in the pro ranks. I shot a ton of
photos, too much frankly. I will try to
post some up when I get back. Until then, here
is one wallpaper from Whitney.

I was getting ready for the Lake Whitney Amateur
National when Dustin Nowak showed up at my door
looking for a spot to ride at for the day. We
jumped in his truck and met up with Myles
Richmond and his friend to head out to Beaumont
for a quick little riding session. It was
a fun little session until Wacker decided to
fall down go boom. I thought he was joking
around at first as he rolled down the side of
the hill. He ended up hurting his foot yet
again. The prognosis is not yet known but
lets all wish Wacker a speedy recovery. Click

Indianapolis brought an end to the Carmichael
fuel penalty drama. A decision was made to
over turn the 25 point penalty for illegal fuel
used in Carmichael's bike in San Diego.
Carmichael is now right back in the hunt for the
title, but then again, was he ever really out
it? His holeshot and smooth consistent
riding this weekend earned him his second win in
a row, and now sits only 1 point behind Chad
Reed in the championship hunt. Stewart
went down in the first turn once again, but came
through the pack like a bat out of hell.
It was amazing to see how quickly he came though
the pack to finish second. Chad Reed
wasn't able to move through the pack like
Stewart and had to work for his third place
finish.
In
the East Lites Class Josh Grant was out front
early with Davi Millsaps right on his heels.
Millsaps made the pass early on Grant, but was
not able to hold onto the lead for long.
Grant made a quick pass back and pulled away.
It looked like he had the win in the bag until a
down rider in a rhythm section forced him to
change his line in mid air to avoid hitting him,
but still fell in doing so. Grant quickly
remounted to finish second. Chris
Gosselaar was third. Click the image on the

I
get back into the swing of things tomorrow as I
head out for the Indy SX. The excitement
is kind of lost now since RC is out of it, for
now. At least we still have the Lites
class. So be on the look out for race photos
late Sunday night, or early Monday morning.
If you are lucky, I might even put up some new
wallpapers tonight if I have time.

I'm sorry to have to make a post like this, but
there will be no photo update from the Atlanta
SX. I did not make it out to that race.
I wish I did because that 250 race was great.
It was awesome to see RC come from behind and
win like that. It was kind of like a slap
in the face to the AMA over this stupid fuel
issue. RC didn't use or need cheater gas
to win, and he proved that last night. For
complete race info and photos, visit
www.supercross.cc.com. Don't worry, I
will be in Indy this weekend for the Supercross.
Then I get back and head right to Lake Whitney
for the big amateur race there. If any of
you viewers are racing at Whitney, email me and
I will try my best to get photos of you.

Yesterday I headed over to Jimmy Fitzpatrick's
freeride playground with Twitch, McElroy,
Potter, Faisst, and a bunch of other locals.
This place is absolutely insane. If you dreamt
the ultimate freeride compound, this would be
it. Twitch laid it down on Fitzpatrick's set up,
throwing huge whips you would see in MXUnleashed.
I will hopefully get back out there soon at dusk
to get some epic night shots. Click the

2/19/06-
This Supercross season has turned into one big
soap opera. After the first 6 rounds, it
looked like the battle for the Supercross
Championship was going to be between Carmichael
and Stewart. St. Louis quickly changed
that scenario. Carmichael didn't make it
through one lap of the main event before
mechanical problem forced him to pull out of the
race. At that point, it looked like the
Stewart would take a firm command of the points
lead as he followed Tedesco, and Reed half way
through the main event. It wasn't until
Stewart went off the track that a glimmer of
hope shined for Carmichael. This soon
turned into one of the oddest events to take
place in Supercross histroy. Stewart was
unable to get his bike start, losing valuable
points. Eventually he got the bike running
again, but was not able to ride at speed due to
a mechanical problem. He would end up 17th
only gaining 3 points on Carmichael. Reed
battled with Tedesco for more then half the
race, but would make the pass and pull away for
the his first win of 2006. Ivan Tedesco
put in a very impressive ride to finish second
behind Reed. Fonseca finished third.
Reed now sits 9 points ahead of Carmichael for
the Supercross Championship.
In the Lites Class, Josh Hansen led for quite
sometime. Davi Millsaps did not get the
greatest start. He worked his way through the
pack, and ran down Hansen. The two battled
shortly, but Millsaps was able to make the pass
and take the win. Hansen would fade to
fourth. Two unexpected riders joined
Millsaps on the podium, Chirs Gosselaar and
Branden Jesseman, who both looked very fast.

Anaheim 3 spoiled me with awesome shooting
conditions. San Diego was the exact
opposite. The lighting was really weird,
and dark in a lot of spots. That made
shooting really difficult, but it sure didn't
effect the racing action. Carmichael and
Stewart were out front once again. It was
the Anaheim 2 show down all over again, except
this time the roles were reversed.
Carmichael led Stewart for 18 of the 20 laps.
On lap 18, Stewart made his move on Carmichael,
diving to the inside of him on a corner.
Carmichael had to settle for second behind
Stewart. San Diego was also Jeremy
McGrath's last race this year. The King
went out with a bang, finishing 4th behind the
big 3.
In the Lites class, Alessi grabbed yet another
hole shot and led for a couple laps until Short
passed him. Langston had troubles early on
in the race and had to work his way through the
pack. He battled with Ramsey and Alessi
before making his way into second. Short
looked like he had the race in the bag until
Langston caught him on the last lap. Short
was able to hold off Langston for the win.
If there had been one more lap in the race, it
may have very well been a Langston victory.

The battle for the Supercross Championship raged
on last night at the last of three stops in
Anaheim. James Stewart and Ricky
Carmichael both won their heat races and were
looking to do battles on a dry track this
weekend. Unfortunately their duel would
end as quickly as it started. James
Stewart went down in the first turn, leaving
Carmichael all alone out front. Reed had
to work his way through the pack and around Ivan
Tedesco to finish second. Tedesco (not me,
Ivan) made his first appearance on the podium in
the Supercross class. McGrath hoped to
leave Anaheim on a high note, but James Stewart
took himself and McGrath out in a corner.
Needless to day, McGrath was not very happy.
Carmichael now sits 13 point ahead of Reed, and
14 ahead of Stewart.
Grant Langston made up for his San Francisco
result by running away with the Lites Class
victory. Andrew Short looked strong, but a
crash early on in the race ended his hope of
battling with Langston. Mike Alessi
finished third for the second week in a row.
Ryan Villopoto had another rough weekend
finishing seventh. Langston now leads with West
Lites class by 1 point over Short. Click

The San Francisco Supercross was an absolute
mess. The rain started early and did not
end until the Supercross main event. Day
qualifiers and practice had to be canceled.
The track was deeply rutted, filled with holes,
and mud puddles. The victory was going to
go to whoever could keep the bike on two wheels.
The weather made racing extremely difficult, not
to mention taking photos. My camera DNF'd
so I was not able to take photos of the main
event. It sure was nice to watch for once,
because shooting that race was a nightmare.
Due to the track conditions the Lites main was
cut to 8 laps. Nathan Ramsey and Brett
Metcalf battled it out for the Lites lead.
It came down to the last turn. Ramsey was
just able to hold onto take the win. Ryan
Villopoto led early, but crashed trying to jump
the finish line double. He would
eventually crash again, ruining his hopes of
winning. Andrew Short and Grant Langston
struggled in the mud. The two were tied
for the points lead going into this event, but
now find themselves trailing Nathan Ramsey and
Billy Laninovich.
The Supercross main was just as exciting as the
first three races, even though it was only a 14
lap race. Again it was Stewart and
Carmichael out front. Lappers played a big
role in their battle. On lap 12 Carmichael
was able to make his way around Stewart.
It looked like he would be able to take the win,
until a small mistake allowed Stewart to close.
On lap 13 Stewart was able to double by
Carmichael in the rhythm section.
Carmichael would have to settle for second
behind Stewart. Reed found himself on the ground
a couple of times, but was able to regain
composure and charge back to fifth.
Carmichael now only has a 2 point lead over
Stewart, with Reed trailing by 10 points.

they were getting some practice in for the
event. I snapped a few photos of the boys.

Anaheim 2 was yet another epic battle.
This is the racing action that the sport has
needed for quite sometime now. The Lites
class is a free for all. At any point
at least 6 different riders can take the win.
Last night Grant Langston got the start he has
been looking for. He worked his way into
the lead and pulled away from the field, taking
his first win of the year. Villopoto had a
tough break, going down losing valuable points
in the championship race. Short
finished second, followed by Ramsey.
The three way battle between Carmichael, Reed,
and Stewart in the Supercross class continued in
Anaheim. With just one point separating
the three for the points lead, it is anyone's
ball game. Vuillemin, Tedesco, and McGrath
were out front early with Stewart and Carmichael
following. Reed was further back stuck in
traffic. Stewart and Carmichael worked
their way up front fast and the battle was on.
For 18 laps the two were neck and neck.
Carmichael was waiting for the right moment to
strike. It wasn't until lap 18 where
Stewart lost the front end in a turn trying to
avoid a fallen Mike Brown. Carmichael just
squeezed by, easily taking the win. Like
his pants said, Reed rode hard and was able to
capitalize on Stewart's mishap, finishing
second. Stewart was third.
Carmichael now has a 4 point lead on Reed, and 5
point lead on Stewart.

Yesterday was a busy day. I got up and
followed Mason. Buyten, and Cliff over to Nate
Adams' house where he was riding with Jimmie
McGuire. I spent the whole day shooting
there and hanging out with the boys. Nate and
Mase were getting ready for Winter X.
Buyten was getting the feel for things again
after returning from yet another shoulder
surgery.
Then I made my way over to Lake Ellsinore with
McCassy for Lonnie's 50 race she was holding in
her backyard. It was quite the set up.
Kicker was on hand BBQing and BooKoo was passing
out drinks. Ryan Hughs, David Pingree,
Ronnie Renner, Buddy Antunez, Josh Grant, and
others were on hand to battle it out. It
was a fun night of racing despite the cold
weather, or at least that is what these native
Californians call it. Care to go back to
Jersey with me to experience the cold?

The Phoenix Supercross was one of the best races
in a long time. The Lites class was a free
for all. Riders were going down left and
right. Short and Villopoto led early, but the
two came together in a turn, taking them both
out. Nathan Ramsey held it together and
avoided all the mayhem to take the win. Laninovich
finished second and took the Lites points lead.
Langston was third.
The highlight of the night
was by far Jeremy McGrath's hole shot in the SX
Main. To cap it off, McGrath pulled a huge
Nac Nac right in front of the entire field off
the first triple. It was great seeing the
champ back out front. It was like 1996 all
over again! Eventually Reed, Carmichael,
and Stewart all made their way by the King.
Stewart went down in the first turn and made his
way through the pack, but had to settle for
third. Reed looked like he had it in the
bag till a near fall allowed Carmichael to close
in on him. A bobble in a rhythm section
section was all it took to hand the lead over to
Carmichael. RC was pulled a small gap and
took his first win of the year. Carmichael and
Stewart are now tied for the points lead, with
Reed one point behind. Anaheim 2 is going
to be interesting. It was hard to tell who
was more happy after the race, Carmichael or
McGrath. The two were both ecstatic.

I just got back from the Mulisha Compound.
Everyone was getting ready for Winter X.
It should be pretty good based on what I saw
today. Too bad I probably won't make it to
it. Thank you ESPN for denying me a pass even
though you have given me one since Summer X
2000. By the time I was able to line one
up, flights were $800 plus. Looks like it
will be the San Francisco SX instead. Click the

This is a first, two different photo postings in
one day. You are all so darn lucky!
Shortly after posting up the photos of Wacker
from yesterday, he showed up at the house to go
riding again. So we jumped in his pick up truck
and headed to meet Ronnie Faisst at the Metal Mulisha
Compound. It was a nice little
riding session with Wacker and Faisst. Wacker
was practicing for the IFMA Series and Faisst
was getting ready for Winter X. I
will be heading back to the Compound tomorrow to
do another shoot with the whole Mulisha crew.

I finally have a free minute to update the site.
Between sending out Anaheim photos, doing 2
photo shoots, and taking a friend to the airport
at 5:30am, I haven't had much time for anything.
This past Monday was the Fifth Gear Films Jobsite
Invitational at the Saddleback construction
site, also known as Kyle Loza's riding spot.
It was a fun little contest featuring Ronnie
Renner, Myles Richmond, Dustin Nowak, Jeremy
Lusk, and others. The course was a huge
110 foot dirt double followed by a choice of
three different step ups. The step ups
ranged from 75 feet to 120+ feet. Check
out the sequence of Renner doing an Indian Air
over the 120+ foot step up. Renner won the
contest followed by Jeremy Lusk and Kyle Loza.

Anaheim 1 was an amazing race...for about 10
laps. In the Supercross Series, the Big 3,
Stewart, Carmichael, and Reed, all had horrible
starts and were buried in the pack.
Leading early was Fonseca who eventually fell.
The Big 3 worked their way into the lead after a
few laps. We finally had a race that lived
up to the hype. RC worked his way around
Reed into the lead, with Stewart in third.
Unfortunately, RC went down in the whoops,
handing the lead to Reed with Stewart right
behind him. Reed was looking like he might
take the win until a bobble in a rhythm section
let Stewart by. Stewart pulled away and
took the win, his third straight. Reed was
second, and RC made his way back into third.
The
Lites class had an unexpected leader half the
race, rookie Ryan Villopoto. This kid was
on the gas in his Lites debut. Andrew
Short, who had a bad start, worked his way
through the pack and into the lead, and took the
win. Villopoto was second followed by
Billy Laninovich. Grant Langston looked
incredibly fast, but a bad start and a crash
limited him to a 4th place finish. Click the image

I was out at Perris Raceway tonight Andy Bell,
Ronnie Renner, Kenny Bartram, and the Godfrey
crew. Right before we are all about to
leave some redneck looking guy wearing jeans, a
long sleeved t-shirt, and a street bike helmet
goes out on the track and starts tearing it up.
People were amazed to see this person blow by
them on the track in his, for a lack of a better
word, ghetto riding gear. This person was
none other then Travis Pastrana. Turns out
he wanted to turn a few laps , but didn't have
any riding gear. He was looking really
fast. Click the thumbnails below for a bigger

I made it from NJ to CA in record time.
The whole trip took 40 hours. John Burlew
and I drove straight through, well for him,
slept through other then the 500 miles he drove.
HAHA. This left 2300 miles, which was
driven by yours truly. As soon as we got in we
headed right to P2R in Corona for an event
hosted by RacerX. This indoor kart track is
awesome. These things really haul ass.
Just when you thought you set a good lap time
there, Pastrana had to go out and beat it by a
whole second. Him and Josh Hansen were
neck and neck all night for fastest time.
Check out their website,

Wow, is it really 2006 already? Time sure has
flown by. Sorry for the lack of updates.
Sadly, I haven't had a chance to get out and
take any new photos. The good news is that
this Wednesday I am packing up my WRX and
driving out to So Cal to stay for awhile.
I will be hitting up all the West Coast
Supercross races an hopefully Winter X, although
getting a pass in has been quite the struggle.
Come on X Games people, I am legit!
Remember me? I was the guy who took all
THESE PHOTOS
at Summer X a couple of months ago which you
gave me a pass to?
Well hopefully I make it out to Anaheim by
Saturday for the Supercross. I can't wait
to get behind the lens again. Be sure to
check back for all new photos. Who knows what
else I will be shooting while I am out there.
Wish me luck!
